To qualify for adoption in the State of Florida, you must be cleared through the Abuse Registry and Florida Law Enforcement background checks.

If you are interested in beginning the adoption process, Brewer Counseling Associates will send you a pre-qualification packet so the background checks can be performed. The home study process is a key factor in completing your adoption process. To assure your success once in the adoption process, we require that the pre-qualification paperwork be completed. If there is any history in the background checks that would prevent you from adopting, you will be spared the expense of proceeding. Confidentiality is maintained throughout this process.

In some instances, a background history will not prevent you from adopting, but you may be required to provide the home study specialist with additional information, and could possibly require a longer post-placement supervision period.
